Luna-ware: Porcelain inspired by the moon

In this series of functional vessels, Luna-ware, the works begin with the creation of models of the moon in porcelain.  These models are then cut and combined with handles, rims and bases to form domestic vessels.  The dark grey, cratered, uneven Luna surface provides a visual and tactile experience that contrasts strongly with the smooth, shiny white surfaces of the rims and handles, and invites an examination of the difference between “natural” and “made.”

Hi! I purchased one of your luna bowls at TOAE – just wanted to know if it was dishwasher / microwave / oven safe?

Hi! I hope you are enjoying your bowl! Yes, definitely dishwasher & microwave safe. I recommend always washing handmade ceramics in the dishwasher. Even the best glazes can get micro-cracks over time and washing in the dishwasher will keep it sanitary. My bowl is oven safe too, as long as you don’t go straight from oven to freezer and create a big thermal shock. If you have any problems, just let me know.

Yes, Luna-ware is dishwasher and microwave safe. It is OK in the a warmish oven, but try to avoid big thermal shocks such as going from high temperature to low temperature too quickly.
